Burro poker team player, Francesco Mistretta wins second place at the poker 2Nite Beach Tournament.

One of BurroPoker.com’s top team players brings home the bacon at this exciting live poker event.

Willemstad, Curaçao, March 19, 2010 –All eyes were on the Doubletree Hilton Puntarenas in sunny Costa Rica for last week’s Poker 2nite beach tournament. This exciting event pitted some of Latin America’s best professional and amateur poker players against one another in an enthralling contest of wits, skills and resolve. Among the top participants in the competition was Panama’s very own Francesco Mistretta, a team player for BurroPoker.com, who gave the type of exciting performance that is only to be expected from such a talented individual.  The gifted young player truly shone in this event, proving once again that he has what it takes to go up against the very best of the best.

Francesco Mistretta is one of Central America’s most remarkable young poker stars. Along with Bolivar Palacios, who recently won the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up ( a weekly online contest that typically hosts up to 5000 players), Mistretta represents both his home country of Panama as well as Burro Poker, an up and coming online poker site that specifically caters to Latin American and Hispanic players.

Burro Poker is one of only a handful of poker sites that contain Spanish language content, which appeals specifically to an ever increasing number of Latin American poker players and aficionados. The site also features some top notch poker software in addition to offering a host of different deals, promotions, bonuses and incentives as well as access to a variety of online tournaments and sponsored events. Since its recent inception, Burro Poker has become quite well known within Latin America and the Caribbean region, largely due to the recent success and ongoing exposure of its talented team of sponsored players, which includes Francesco Mistretta himself in addition to Martin Kosteinen, who also made it to the final table of the Poker2Night Beach Tournament.

The contest itself was an adrenaline pumping battle that and ended in a one o one showdown between Mistretta and Swedish prodigy Mikael Erixon, who ended up taking home a 50,000 prize. During the final round, Erixon took a far more aggressive stance than he had earlier in the tournament, going all in against Mistretta a total of three times. After a Head to Head that lasted over an hour, Erixon finally triumphed over his opponent with a hand consisting of Two Pair after landing Pocket Tens out of the gate and a Pair of Nines on the board. That hand was more than good enough to beat Mistretta’s Ace Eight Off Suit. Nevertheless, Francesco didn’t go home empty handed. In fact, he managed to win almost $30,000 in cash along with some well deserved notoriety and the heartfelt appreciation as well the ongoing support of his sponsor, Burro Poker en línea

During this event, Mistretta helped to prove once again, what has become more than obvious over the last few years: that the future of Latin American poker rests secure in the hands of a new breed of players. These players are young, bold, dynamic and ready to take on the best in the game, as demonstrated during this tournament, in which youngsters like Mistretta managed to beat out seasoned veterans, such as Costa Rican poker legend and fellow competitor Erick Brenes senior.

Although many Latin American events are still being won by Europeans like Erixon and other players from outside the region, up and coming stars like Mistretta are proof that the locals can hold their own against more seasoned international competitors. In fact, it is probably won’t be long before members of this talented young generation of players are claiming as many titles overseas as they are in their own back yard.
